It is also the third busiest airport in Europe serving the largest number of international destinations behind London Heathrow Airport and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. It is operated by the company Fraport AG, which has given it its nickname. In 2019, over 70 million passengers passed through it, making Frankfurt the fourth busiest airport in Europe after London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and Amsterdam Schiphol, and the 15th busiest in the world in terms of passenger numbers.
